Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour (includes shift differential)

What Product Test & Calibration contributes to Cardinal Health

Manufacturing is responsible for cost of production and maintenance activities including process improvement, supply chain management, quality assurance, employee safety and engagement, and environmental commitment.

Product Test & Calibration sets up, aligns, monitors, and/or calibrates production equipment. Assists and may perform maintenance on machines and cleans up minor chemical spills in assigned area as well as glassware, ovens, and other equipment.

Job Summary  

The Sterilizer Technician is responsible for performing minor maintenance on irradiator and its support equipment, loading, unloading and transporting material, analyzing dosimeters and monitoring sterilizer operation.

Responsibilities

Perform minor maintenance on equipment; involving mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.

Place, retrieve and read dosimeters in product being sterilized – operate a spectrophotometer and thickness gauge, record data, perform daily calibrations.

Perform routine radiation monitoring in and around the facility.

Coordinate staging, irradiation, quarantine and release of product, fill out necessary paperwork.

Operate forklift to stage pallets of product; load product cartons into tote boxes for sterilization, unload and palletize product cartons after sterilization, count and verify quantity of product sterilized.

Load, unload, transport and palletize product.

Assign film badges and dosimeters – read and maintain records of radiation exposure for all individuals entering restricted areas.

Serve as a member of the telephone response team in case of mechanism failure.

Check to ensure all scheduled testing is completed (monitoring, calibration, leak testing, etc.).

Comply with statutory responsibility under the national/federal regulations - take reasonable care of your own health, safety and welfare along with teammates that may be affected by your acts at work.

Follow established EH&S procedures and policies and encourage teammates to follow them.

Participate in EH&S activities such as: root cause analysis, finding solutions, implementing improvements, inspections, and meetings.

Complete and remain up to date on required EH&S training.

Follow all ISO 13485, GMP, OSHA and plant/corporate standards, policies, and procedures.

Observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed.

Report all safety incidents, hazards, and potential unsafe working conditions.

Qualifications

High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

1+ year experience in related field, preferred

Willing to get state certified to operate Sterilization machine after hire

Willing to get forklift certified after hire

Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize to meet deadlines

Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Team player – ability to work independently and with a team to accomplish goals
