Description:
ATCO Frontec is seeking a versatile and enthusiastic Steward to join our team at Eureka, Nunavut. The Steward provides culinary support, general assistance, and housekeeping duties. This position requires a flexible individual who can handle a variety of tasks, from food preparation support to housekeeping tasks.
The position will be located on site at Eureka, NU and will work on a rotation of 8 weeks on and 8 weeks off. The wage is $28.36/hour.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Chef and other kitchen staff with basic food preparation, including washing, chopping, and peeling vegetables, and preparing simple dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen work areas, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas. Assist in stocking all food serving areas according to the number of people to be served, with a focus on quality, appearance, adequate stocking levels, and minimizing leftovers and product waste. Operates food services equipment in a safe manner and according to established policies and procedures. Ensure that all prepared products are correctly recorded on daily kitchen logs for hot and cold holding, temperature logs and daily cleaning schedules. Prepares and cooks food according to standardized recipes, ensuring food is cooked at the proper temperature and at the proper length of time. Maintain cleanliness and order in common areas. Clean and sanitize designated areas, including restrooms, common areas, and staff areas. Dust furniture, vacuum carpets, and mop floors. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners. Restock supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toiletries. Ensure that all areas are clean, tidy, and well-maintained. Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a 3rd Cook / Line Cook, General Helper, and Housekeeper are required. Valid Advanced Food Safety Certificate is required Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Comfortable working in remote and extreme weather conditions Availability to work rotational shifts, including extended hours if necessary
