Steward Supervisor

Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center is a state-of-the-art, full-service meetings and resort destination that caters to groups of all sizes, as well as families who are looking for a world-class experience in the epicenter of the premier sports and entertainment district in the country. Assist in maintaining the highest level of cleanliness, organization, safety and production in the areas of responsibilities.  Supervise staff of 15-25 at any given time and coordinating that staff to accomplish the work assignments that they are required to achieve and maintain the team at that level. This position requires a great deal of attention to detail. Assignments must be done within the specified time constraints. This person must have the ability to communicate, initiative, teamwork, and be prompt. People skills, internal/external customer service, and communication skills are mandatory. Ability to communicate with people within the department is necessary. Multitasking, clear penmanship (so work may be interpreted correctly), regular attendance, getting along with others, detail orientation, working a full shift, and the ability to work in a fast paced constantly changing environment are required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To cooperate with, and support others in an effort to provide the up most safety in the kitchen areas as well as throughout all other areas of responsibilities as well as throughout the hotel.Prioritize and delegate work assignments to all staffMonitor completion of daily work assignmentsInteract with the culinary, banquet and other outlet manager for their needsAssist in the maintenance of all equipment by notifying engineering of any needed repairsAssist in the proper use of equipment and cleaning suppliesMaintain organization of all food and beverage equipment and supplies in all areas of responsibility (i.e. main kitchen, Preston’s and all banquet areas.Assume the responsibility of training the staff assigned to his shift and periodically appraise their abilities through practical exercises to include daily pre-shifts.Assure that all banquet functions are properly set with sufficient equipment and all stewarding responsibilities for those functions are met and always on time.Responsible in maintaining the stewarding areas in compliance with all Local health departments, Steritech and safety code regulations.Assist in maintaining effective awareness programs for the department in regards to safety and breakageAssist in the completion of Quarterly inventoriesConstant monitoring of daily activities such as dish machine monitoring, perpetual inventories and chemical counts.Ability to carry on the day to day floor operation in the absence of a Executive Steward and/or Assistant Executive StewardAttend daily BEO meetings when necessary and prepare BEO set ups sheets a day in advanceAssist in the receiving’s of all Stewarding purchasesExecute emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standardsAssure that all areas pertaining to breakdown are clear of all equipment and food itemsOther duties as assigned

Qualifications

Ability to read/write in EnglishExcellent communication skills – oral & writtenExcellent guest service skillsPrevious stewarding experience within a large volume hotel highly preferred.Able to work a fully flexible schedule, including weekends and holidaysAble to push/pull and/or lift 40+ lbs.

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
