POSITION PURPOSE
Store Equipment Technician
The Store Equipment Technician performs preventative equipment maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and the necessary repairs needed. Examples of equipment that may be serviced include shopping carts, lifts, food service equipment, balers, electric and manual pallet jacks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Diagnoses and repairs store equipment, including troubleshooting malfunctions and breakdowns. Replace defective components as needed.
Performs preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance on equipment.
Completes maintenance schedules of various equipment system components as directed or as outlined by standard maintenance guidelines and procedures.
Ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations during all maintenance and repair activities.
Collaborates with store leadership regarding equipment needs and maintenance schedules.
Performs equipment installation and upgrades.
Responsible for documentation and recordkeeping of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
HS Diploma and 1-2 years of vocational training or professional license. Entry-level position requiring little to no prior knowledge or experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of supermarket maintenance trade.
Knowledge of electronic controls.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Basic understanding of electricity (single and multi-phase 110, 220 and 480)
Basic knowledge and experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including repair and programming
Ability to use basic hand tools and electrical test meters
Ability to perform steel welding and equipment fabrication
Excellent customer service skills
Interpersonal and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Must have valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:
Lifting up to 80 pounds.
Standing for long periods of time, twist and bend, stretch and reach.
Walking, lifting, and bending
Driving
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a retail store environment where typical conditions include: very cold and very warm temperatures (from minus 20 degrees to 110 degrees), dust and dirt, exhaust fumes, loud noises, and strong cleaning chemicals (some ammonia based chemicals).
Frequent travel is required.
Must be at least 18-years old.
