Working with the Barren Lands First Nation in Northern Manitoba, as Store Manager of a newly built community general store you will: Implement strategic planning for the store that includes sales, inventory management, marketing, merchandising, and operations. Execute and monitor sales plans to ensure compliance with budgets while maximizing profitability and meeting sales targets. Supervised and initiate effective displays of merchandise, maintaining efficiency and sales per foot. Place orders as scheduled for the store utilizing an inventory control program to effectively satisfy customer requirements while implementing appropriate price, marketing, and inventory strategies. Ensure appropriate receiving and warehousing of store merchandise and supplies in accordance with company policy. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise an effective general store team and ensure accurate levels of staffing based on budgets and store initiatives. Manage and effectively resolve customer issues in accordance with company values. Accurately monitor inventory and manage store financial records (gross margins, sales ratios, operating costs). What the successful candidate will bring: 3+ years of general management experience in a general store retail environment. Experience in budget planning, reading & analyzing financial reports, product presentation & merchandising, inventory & cost control; and getting sales to drive results. Proficiency in ensuring efficient operation of a business to achieve all financial targets and deliver on budgeted KPI’s. Experience in retail distribution, budget planning, merchandise displays, inventory control, cost control, and revenue generation. Knowledge of how to successfully implement retail commercial programs while providing sound recommendations for continuous improvement. Excellent interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to develop community relations by working with store associates and community partners respectfully, knowledgeably, and effectively. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to coach and reinforce operational expectations. Exceptional organizational, time management, planning and prioritization skills. Ability to adapt to changing environments and situations by demonstrating proficiency in problem solving and decision making skills while communicating operational requirements/changes to department associates. Demonstrated ability to adapt to stressful situations and different cultures and surroundings. Knowledge of northern indigenous culture and work environment would be an asset.
