Summary/Objective
The Store Manager reports to the District Manager and ensures that processes and procedures are followed to meet Rutter’s expectations and goals. The Store Manager effectively manages the operation of a convenience store by planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and leading others to achieve maximum profitability and company goals.
Responsibilities
Oversee productivity of all Team Members and managers at store.Inventory, order, and track merchandise sales.Verify, report, and deposit all moneys due company for goods sold on a daily basis.Complete customer transactions accurately and efficiently, and ensure compliance with applicable age restricted product regulations such as lottery, tobacco, and alcohol.Report and resolve all maintenance issues, assure all company equipment and facilities are in good working order.Identify and resolve inventory control problems.Maintain store and premises in a clean, healthful, attractive condition, and according to all company policies and applicable codes.Display and rotate merchandise as recommended by the marketing staff.Maintain the operation of the store to prescribed company schedules.Assure that all company rules and procedures, this includes Federal, State, and Local regulations, are followed by self and employees.Coordinate all recruitment, screening, hiring, disciplinary, job training, and motivational efforts.Schedule hours of work for self and employees to optimize operation and control labor costs across all shifts.Provide shift coverage for call-offs when no other help can be found.Assist in Restaurant as needed.Assure that all operational manuals are up to date.Attend Manager meetings and conduct store employee meetings as required.Interview applicants and make recommendations for hire.Communicate in a timely and effective way to all levels of the organization regarding store and personnel performance.Ensure self and all employees provide professional, courteous, and timely service to customers.Demonstrate high standards and work ethics to others through words and actions.Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information or situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.Stock and maintain inventory levels as required throughout the store.Ability to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/snow/icy conditions. Identify opportunities to improve service and productivity, reduce costs, increase sales and make recommendations to appropriate personnel.Complete daily errands including but not limited to banking and competitive price checks.
Additional Responsibilities for VGT Stores
Monitor the VGT room at all times and card patrons who appear to be under the age of 27. See VGT binder at the store for full description of responsibilities.
Essential Functions
Ability to use a PC, mobile device, and/or other electronics. Talk, hear, read, write, and comprehend English. Manage and supervise employees operating cash register, collect, verify, maintain proper cash levels and report all moneys due to the company.*Oversee employees performing duties at multiple workstations (i.e., food prep, make table, expediter, etc.)*Oversee employees to ensure all store housekeeping functions are complete (i.e., dusting, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, etc.).Oversee stocking and ensure inventory levels are maintained as required throughout the store.Ability to be at work on time when scheduled.Ability to oversee store operations and multiple areas simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.High energy, positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.Interact productively with co-workers and function well in a team environment.Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle are required; must travel to store locations as well as offsite meetings.

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.Frequent walking, stretching, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements. Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 30 lbs.Ability to get product in cold refrigerator or freezer.Must be able to tolerate exposure to cleaning products.Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (i.e. gloves, face shield/goggles, apron, mitts, slip resistant shoes, etc.)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time/exempt position. Will work a minimum of 49 hours per week, 5 ½ days (9 hours per day, with a 4-hour day on Saturday or Sunday). Schedule could vary based on business needs. Weekends and holidays are required.
Qualifications Required
Must be at least 18 years of age.Basic accounting skills. Prior management or leadership experience. Able to understand food operations and equipment. Obtain Serve Safe certification.May be required to obtain RAMP certification *Beer/Wine locations only.Required to obtain occupational license or permit issued by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board *VGT locations only.
Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Education in Management or Business. 2-4 years in Retail, Sales, or related industry. 6 months’ employment with Rutter’s.Prior management or leadership experience.
