Job Purpose
As part of the Space and Range team, the Store Planner is responsible for the production and maintenance of store layouts using a CAD package; planning new store builds, refits and major project work, as well as ongoing improvement and enhancement. Each Store Planner will be responsible for approximately one third of the store estate.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the performance of stores by optimising the balance of space between categories, utilising analytical data to inform decisions. Ensure each store reflects the agreed format principles to present a consistent Halfords offer, considering all current regulations and equipment specs. Maintain logical product flows and adjacencies that make sense to customers and enable an easy journey through the store. Understand the frequently conflicting objectives of several areas of the business and, where a compromise is necessary, take an objective approach in the best interests of the business. Communicate the impact of space changes to the relevant teams throughout the business, including Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and Trading to ensure they are supported with the correct levels of stock, as well as merchandising equipment and POS. Monitor the processes that are dependent on store plan changes, such as SAP listings. Identify and resolve any quality or systems issues in conjunction with the IT and Stock Control teams. Act as a point of contact for store teams and Area Managers to address queries and resolve issues relating to the store plans. Track, review, and report on impact of any requested space changes Lead space changes with the Micro Space team to coordinate space changes driven by the Range Review process. Liaise with other elements of the Store Development and Property teams during in-store work.
Key Skills/Experience
A motivated and sociable team member, willing to learn and to share their knowledge with others. Comprehensive understanding of retailing, with previous in-store experience an advantage. High standards of detail and consistency. Solid Excel skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making. Experience of a CAD-based planning package is an advantage. A confident communicator who can explain the decisions they have taken, and who will be an engaging representative of the Store Planning team to the rest of the business.
