Primary Focus

The Strategic Communications Specialist will collaborate with the Army, AMC, CECOM, and SEC’s mission, vision, challenges, initiatives, and can easily translate these topics into written materials within hours. Will collaborate and take initiative to work with individuals across organizations to support all ad-hoc writing needs; the individual should be flexible with workload and can prioritize and produce written materials on fast-paced/same-day timelines. Will have the ability to weave various elements of a presentation together in a comprehensive and logical manner, to describe complex material and information in detail, and to write in a conversational tone. The speech writer shall be proficient in Associated Press (AP) Style Guide, and capable of producing work in a “storytelling” tone. Responsibilities Develops and writes speeches, briefings, social media content, newsletters, public affairs communications, articles, internal/external website content, and workforce messages.Translates the ideas, objectives, corporate position, and management philosophy into messaging that relates to the topic, speaker, and intended audience.Composes and/or reviews editorials, press releases, or articles representing the organization.Assists senior leadership with speech delivery preparations.Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. and Works both independently and collaborative in nature. A natural collaborator who understands the Army, AMC, CECOM, and SEC’s mission, vision, challenges, initiatives, and could easily translate these topics into written materials within hours. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (English, communications, journalism, public relations/affairs, marketing strategy)7-11 Years of ExperienceSecret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

 

Minimum Skills:

Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, has experience working with senior leadership, and the ability to develop productive working relationships.Self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project deadlines.Proficient in Associated Press (AP) Style GuideExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently to meet deadlines while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with the Military.

Professional office environmentMust be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time. Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.Must be able to work varying work schedules and/or extended hours to meet business needs and project deadlines.May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
