The Strategic Consultant demonstrates and positions the end-to-end value of the Roche portfolio of solutions (systems) and Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC) services to our customers. This field-based position creates value by focusing on complex automated laboratory solutions to improve the customers workflow processes. This position partners with customers and internal stakeholders (global Roche Healthcare Consulting teams, global business affiliates, marketing, IT, and other teams) to address customers' unique priorities, challenges, and needs through continuous improvement efforts, including (but not limited to) collecting and reviewing customer feedback, refining methods/tools, performing complex analyses, and recommending solutions. As a result, this fosters and supports sales opportunities and also positions commercial opportunities for Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC).
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow a standardized end-to-end approach that creates evidence-based, differentiated value for the solution portfolio, both inside and outside the walls of the lab.
Utilize specific methods, tools, techniques, and product offerings: Total Value of Ownership (TVO) strategy as an outcome of Return on Investment (ROI), cobas total workflow simulator, cobas analytical simulators, Salesforce.com, etc.
Deliver consulting services, such as Visioning Workshops, Lab Collaboration Modeling, and Rapid Improvement Methodologies
Provide assessments, training, and advice to customers (including process maps, value stream mapping, 5S analysis, VDM, A3, Strategy, Standard Work, Workplace Redesign, Operational Changeover, etc.)
Deliver standardized and harmonized practices for consistent national delivery of consulting services; contribute to the development and/or adoption of similar practices globally
Collaborate with managers and consultants to develop, refine, and constantly evolve high-value deliverable templates, best practices, and other tools to deliver differentiated, value-creating consulting services; facilitate RHC training to sales, service, and customer teams.
Provide support and expertise to assist peers with the assessment of new and existing customer laboratories and work practices; recommend near and longer-term improvements that deliver efficiency, safety, and effectiveness to customer stakeholders.
Communicate, internally and outside RDC, the value of RHC services through written documents, speaking engagements, marketing materials, etc.
Provide lean workflow support to other organizations within the Roche Diagnostics Corporation for product development and commercialization activities.
Assist with delivery of Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC) services for internal process improvement events
Provide pre-sales and post-sales support for the development and implementation of complex products, applications, and solutions.
Assist customer, support, and IT teams in implementing detailed customer installation requirements to ensure client needs have been met and that the product/solution is fully functioning according to specification.
Assist customers with workflow or operational issues related to Roche systems.
Perform related administrative duties such as creating and submitting expense, reports, and status reports and adhere to any additional regulatory requirements.
WHO YOU ARE
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with wide-ranging experience addressing diverse and oftentimes complex issues, requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation of many factors. Exercising appropriate judgment in selecting evaluation methods and determining solution criteria is critical. The ideal candidate demonstrates agility in a rapidly changing, matrixed organization and is comfortable operating in an evolving, ambiguous environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate is comfortable coordinating the activities of others, networking with internal and external senior personnel in their area of expertise, and networking with key contacts outside their area of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or healthcare-related field
3 years of management experience delivering and managing consulting services using Lean Six sigma or similar continuous improvement analytical tools/processes in a laboratory and/or healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications
Able to travel +75% of the time
Reside within the Northeast Territory (IL, MI, PA, NJ, DE, MD, MA, CT, RI, ME, VT)
Currently possesses US work authorization and will not require future visa sponsorship
Master’s degree in business or healthcare discipline (MBA, MHA, MHSA, MPH)
5+ years management experience delivering and managing consulting services using Lean Six sigma or similar continuous improvement analytical tools/processes in a laboratory and/or healthcare setting.
Black Belt, Master Black Belt, and/or Champion certification in Lean Six Sigma or other similar, advanced continuous improvement certification
3+ years commercial experience in a sales, service-oriented, or consulting environment
Preferred Skills
Proficiency using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Middleware; familiarity with Roche Infinity.
Strong organization and analytical skills to uncover key technical, operational, and strategic issues.
Ability to use analytical methods and applications to support consulting engagement conclusions and recommendations.
Ability to help define and contribute to new business concepts with RDC’s total solution, including creating and delivering professional services, creating methods, and tools.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills to influence customer decision makers by articulating ideas and influencing others to adopt solutions. This includes the ability to credibly recommend changes to lab practices to improve waste, cost, quality, and turnaround times.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead, manage, and influence people at various organization levels internally and within the customer site.
General understanding of IVD Laboratory Solutions and their workflow/functioning; within the lab and at an institutional level.
Familiarity with Roche and/or competitor products.
