As a Strategic Lead & Facilitator, Indigenous Cultural Safety with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
Lead the development of a Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) wide education plan, and leads the facilitation of cultural safety education and training in a way that is relevant to the values and strategic directions of the organization and with the goal of enhancing the organization’s capacity to deliver health services in a culturally safe manner.Provide consultation and direction to address specific cultural safety issues; contributes and participates in the development of guidelines, systems, and instruments to support the achievement and maintenance of cultural safety throughout the continuum of health servicesCollaborate with colleagues in other disciplines to ensure appropriate staff development and participation in education and cultural safety initiatives. This role also requires the ability to facilitate and develop the curriculum required for the training to improve the competencies of the VCH workforce.Collaborate and support the development of all training with colleagues in other health disciplines to ensure appropriate staff development and participation in education, and that the Indigenous Cultural Safety lens is applied to the development of all initiatives and programs.Work collaboratively with the Indigenous Health Program, the Indigenous community partners, and other internal/external stakeholders to lead the organization in meeting its goal of enhancing Indigenous people's access to VCH services. Patient and staff safety is a priority and responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position QualificationsEducation & Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Adult Learning or a related discipline.Three (3) years’ recent, related experience in coaching, mentoring, training, conflict resolution and provision of facilitation of indigenous cultural competency curriculum and training.Minimum of five (5) years working for an Indigenous organization/program that includes interacting and developing relationships with First Nations, Metis and Inuit people and Indigenous communities as well as government agencies and ministries along with extensive understanding and knowledge of Indigenous culture and specifically Vancouver Coastal Health region’s First Nation’s cultures.Valid BC Driver’s license as local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle.Pursuant to Section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to individuals of Indigenous identity (First Nations, Inuit, M�tis).
