Strategic Marketing Director - Vehicle
The Strategic Marketing Director is responsible of driving global growth of our products through development and execution of market strategies that target specific segments. This position needs a solid mix of commercial and technical skills as the Market Segment Manager will work closely with engineers, sales managers, and program managers.

What are we looking for?

Given Sensata’s growth ambitions to expand our competitive edge, and our leadership position in our automotive, industrial, heavy vehicle and off-road, aerospace, military, commercial and residential end markets, we are seeking a Strategic Marketing Professional to identify new growth markets, expand existing markets and create proposals and strategies for optimizing and executing on those opportunities.



This role will lead multiple strategic initiatives, and will be expected to thoroughly analyze market opportunities, organize cross-functional teams, and propose and manage timely analyses with predetermined milestones. Ultimately, he/she will establish well supported solutions with specific recommendations that will enable the executive management team to make critical go/no go decisions.



This role will collaborate with our Corporate Strategy team, Business unit General Managers, Ventures/Technology office, and Marketing leaders to develop new strategies, refine specific BU strategies and identify new growth markets. In addition, he/she will regularly interface with the Corporate M&A team to develop and execute a healthy M&A pipeline including target outreach and developing & executing integration plans.  He/ she may also support the various business units with their strategic planning as required.

This role will report directly to the Vice President, Product Marketing

General Responsibilities
• Oversees development and implementation of marketing plans and assist with product promotion to deliver business results
• Directs the development of company market requirements for specific product(s) or product line(s), including product strategy definition, requirements analysis, and pricing
• Directs the development of business plans, assesses market penetration, and product positioning to drive competitive advantage, revenue and market share
• Reduces broad concepts and business strategies into structured product marketing plans
• Oversees market research, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs
• Establishes pricing strategies and develops marketing tools for successful product introductions
• Develops new product definition strategies and business plans with joint departments
• Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
• Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Additional Responsibilities will include:

Driving strategic initiatives through concept, management alignment, and execution.Presenting strategy and market opportunities regularly to management as well as reporting updates on results against business objectives to the regional and global executives of the businessCollaborating with peers across the globe on market research and analysis to help lead initiatives to drive our business objectives. M&A:  Support for identifying inorganic growth opportunities for Sensata that align with strategy, including landscape analysis, opportunity and pipeline identification, strategy due diligence, etc.

Professional Qualifications:

Education Experience: Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics or Business is required. Graduate MBA degree from top 20 business school a plus. Master's of Science degree a plus.A minimum of two years of consulting with a top-tier firm, having worked on growth strategy projects and/or 2-5 years of experience in a Corporate Strategy roleAnalytical Rigor: the ability to run highly complicated quantitative and financial analysis in a defect-free manner.Structured and Logical Thinking: the ability to dissect a problem in a structured approach and quickly form a hypothesis against which to run test analysis.Powerful Communication: the ability to communicate persuasively, both verbally and on paper/digital media with company Executives.Understand different Direct Sales and Channel Selling optionsUnderstanding of HW, SW and SaaS models

Personal Qualifications:

The candidate selected for this position will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. He/she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel. This professional must demonstrate strong leadership skills, best demonstrated by the individual’s ability to gain credibility with team members and senior management.
