Job Description
In this role you will have the opportunity to work on continuing to grow and build our successful placemaking practice within southern Alberta, Calgary and beyond. Our studios located in Calgary offer a broad range of placemaking services that include master planning for mixed use and residential places, urban development strategies, transit-oriented development, revitalization and area plans, community planning, urban design/landscape architecture, land development strategies, land entitlements, special planning studies, and public engagement. We offer a fast paced, collaborative environment at a global multi-disciplinary firm that takes a holistic and comprehensive approach to planning and design.
We are looking for an experienced planning professional who has a passion for the development of business and market opportunities, project management/delivery of complex projects, working with diverse teams and clients, and successful project outcomes. A deep understanding of the local planning and development marketplace and development process is a must.
Your focus in this role will be leading business development strategies, finding opportunities, managing client interface, bringing value to our clients through your planning expertise while increasing the bandwidth of projects through the addition of value-added services that other practice areas offer.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and direct a wide range of complex planning projects and assignmentsEnable growth and expansion through the identification and development of business growth opportunities and strategies within a multi-disciplinary practice Networking, attend industry events, client management and relationship building, and communicationLead proposal development and opportunity pursuitsAssist with development of marketing content including on-line presence and social mediaDevelop, review, and manage the approval process for complex planning applications through a solution-oriented approachEstablish internal collaborative relationships to enable cross-selling and promoting of our services and expertise – collaborate other offices and practice areasManage and support multiple planning projects with multiple staff, lead and coordinate staffLead and manage public engagement processes and projectsThought leadership and support and coaching of team members through contributing to their projects and professional aspirations

Ability to lead complex planning tasks and manage multiple challenging projectsStrong client management and communication skillsExpertise in building and leading multi-disciplinary teamsDeep understanding and experience with planning and development processes in Alberta and the Calgary region, including appearing before councils, planning commissions and committeesProven project management, problem solving and solutions development skillsEducation and Experience:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning or related disciplineMinimum of 15 years experience in private and public sector urban planning, urban design and land development projectsExperience in leading complex multi-disciplinary projectsAdditional Information
