Strategic Sourcing Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Select, evaluate, and manage new vendor partnerships while driving purchase price variance (PPV). Develop an understanding of the big-picture objectives and business strategy. Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and senior management, along with data analytics, to solve problems and achieve business goals. Possesses strong leadership qualities, time management, contracting and negotiation skills. Responsible for implementing strategic sourcing initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and develop supplier specific strategies in accordance with organization’s vision and goals. Partner with stakeholders, department managers and senior management to understand business needs. Manage supplier selection, using best practices throughout the negotiation, contracting, and onboarding process. Deliver Purchase Price Variance (PPV) versus plan. Establish requirements, scope, and criteria for new suppliers. Develop a process to ensure that new vendor onboarding includes first article inspections.  Collaborate with purchasing to develop vendor compliance programs. Manage sourcing activities including gathering quotations, analyzing bids, negotiating supply programs, and recommending supplier allocations for the procurement of materials, supplies, tools, and services. Drive success in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with suppliers, internal customers, peers, and senior management. Serve as a key member of the core team determining “make-or-buy” decisions. Work directly with engineering leaders to execute value engineering projects. Other assigned duties

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Engineering-technical background a plus. 8-10 years procurement and materials management experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Strong analytical skills and Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (full proficiency in MS Excel) Experience utilizing an ERP system (Syteline preferred) Strong Project Management skills Strong understanding of fabrication processes to include machining tolerances, welding and other fabrication techniques. Have the ability to analyze a vendor’s ability to manufacture components. Background with metal fabrication from a part level to welded assemblies. Certified in Production and/or Inventory Management (APICS/CPIM) preferred Experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment. Proven track record of cost savings and implementation of modern supply chain management approaches such as JIT, lean manufacturing, and Vendor Managed Inventory Solid understanding of cost accounting, cash flow, and inventory turns Approximately 25% travel may be required.

The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment includes front-office and manufacturing.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
