Strategic Sourcing Manager
Overview Responsible for strategic procurement analysis, monitoring of global and local economic trends that can impact product pricing and product availability, and developing supply strategies that allow for competitive material pricing and availability of production capacities that align with company growth projections. Negotiates master vendor agreements, purchase orders for project specific materials and services. Coaches and manages procurement personnel. Develops and oversees programs related to commodities, buying, rental and service. Develops and maintains processes and systems utilized by the company to perform procurement related tasks and functions. Leads annual and quarterly strategic planning activities. Responsibilities Develop strategies for assigned commodities using the best cost approach, keeping pulse on market competitive intelligence Analyze spend trends based on business requirements and projections to ensure market competitiveness of assigned commodities Analyze financial markets, global economic trends that influence commodity prices and provide recommendations for purchasing strategies Develop and maintain supplier relationships that improve market competitiveness Lead and negotiate Master Vendor Agreements and project specific supply terms and conditions, bringing appropriate support groups into the conversation as necessary, including legal, finance, permitting and insurance Manage the company supply chain by sourcing, reviewing, and purchasing commodities, securing commodity pricing, or production slots Lead categorization of suppliers to determine strategic, leveraged, bottleneck, and non-critical supplier management strategies. Analyze existing strategies, identify issues and propose improvements. Escalate issues to Director as appropriate. Drive the implementation of industry best practices and a mindset of continuous improvement Review, analyze and monitor assigned supplier/subcontractor capabilities, quotes, bids Research, analyze, configure, and draw informed data driven conclusions from procurement data in support of department and company Key Performance Indicator (KPI)’s Lead, manage, coach and mentor direct reports or other procurement personnel Prepare, process and monitor purchase orders and change orders Facilitate the timely resolution of issues with suppliers related to price, quality, delivery, condition, etc. Coordinate with buyers for each project and give direction related to previously negotiated materials and equipment Coordinate keepsake inventory and life cycles for bulk purchases to ensure that the company is maintaining an adequate inventory Monitor, update and improve systems, processes and documents used to perform procurement activities Develop and maintain expertise on assigned products and services along with facilitating the sharing of knowledge with Strategic Sourcing Specialists Maintain and communicate knowledge of market conditions and industry activity that may impact business Work collaboratively with other procurement personnel inside the MasTec family of companies when applicable to increase and improve purchasing leverage Collaborate with other Strategic Sourcing Managers to develop and maintain a vendor scorecard system Research and evaluate new sources for assigned products and services.
