Position Purpose:
Reporting to Global Strategic Sourcing Manager of Packaging, this role will lead the strategic procurement activities for packaging categories for the NAFTA based businesses (Life science, Environment, Pharmaceutical, Optical fiber and connectivity), and selected global categories (Paper and Resin based packaging materials). The role will develop and drive procurement strategies around various packaging, will look for opportunities to rationalize our supply base, and bring cost-effective procurement to the businesses by centralizing the strategic sourcing element of this activity. The role will work closely with a wide internal Customers base as well as other Functional Service leaders in order to identify business and functional customers’ priorities and closely align with business/functional strategies. In many cases these activities will be performed as part of a cross-functional team, but the incumbent will lead the process and be responsible for implementing solutions.
Requirements:
Packaging Material Knowledge including: Proficiency in corrugated, flexible and rigid plastic packaging materials, understanding of packaging processes relative to supplier operations, manufacturing, engineering and supply chain and understanding of packaging commodity indexes for plastics, paper, corrugated and wood Engaging and capable of building strong internal customer, internal procurement and external supplier relationships Strong negotiation and data analysis skills Problem solving, root cause identification and follow through to permanent solutions Global commodity strategy development and business alignment
Desired:
Industry knowledge including strong market, technical and procurement background sourcing raw materials (Corrugated and Flexible plastic packaging) Innovative contracting in volatile markets to assure competitive pricing models Having a technical / engineering background or experience; Preference for packaging material engineering background or experience and/or experience with glass and/or ceramic manufacturing Project Management skills
Responsibilities:
Develops multiple year strategic sourcing plans and objectives based on forecasts of future demand and economic and currency trends and conditions that affect Product &Technology, the business, and the global commodity sourced Analysis and furnish market intelligence for assigned commodities such as supply and demand trend, pricing, shortages or technical information to divisional procurement and business responsible including the evaluation of potential supplier risks for key suppliers and developing a mitigation plan To carry out the negotiations for key suppliers and ensure adequate contract cover within the portfolio with divisional sourcing resources to be compliant with the Global Delegation of Authorities Monitor the strategy implementation progress and communicate with the business team (mainly Business Unit procurement and engineering) for business to achieve the financial target Owns the Supplier Relationship Management process for the assigned commodities and developing and cultivates effective relationships with key suppliers

The range for this position is $92,494.00 - $127,179.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
