The Team and Job Summary

As the Strategy and Corporate Development Analyst, you will report to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) in a high-growth organization. J.S. Held’s acquisition and lift-out strategy has been a critical element of that growth. J.S. Held has closed on over 60 acquisitions since 2015 and anticipates continuing on this growth trajectory.

This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven individual with a well-rounded skill set to join the Corporate Development team.This is a pivotal role, helping shape our future growth and continue our highly acquisitive strategy. Our Corporate Development team is responsible for acquisitions and lift outs, bringing new and innovative capabilities, enhancing existing ones, and expanding our footprint and market opportunities. Our Corporate Development team partners closely with senior leaders across our business units to execute our long-term strategy.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Strategy & Corporate Development Analyst who will focus on strategy development, corporate development support, and specific strategy initiatives, including assessing opportunities and approaches in areas such as construction defect capabilities. The ideal candidate is hungry; exhibits intellectual curiosity and creativity; has exceptional communication, project management, problem solving, and negotiation skills; has experience diligencing market competitors and intelligence; and has excellent business judgement.

 

Job Responsibilities

Strategy DevelopmentGain a comprehensive understanding of existing business operationsCollaborate with internal stakeholders on market analysis, competitive landscape and industry developments, growth potential, profitability, and strategic opportunitiesAct as a researcher and custodian of external secondary information sources (reports/databases), utilizing external resources for researchManage the top-down growth modelContribute to the development of strategy narratives and templates for transaction preparationPartner with the banker team on Confidential Information MemorandumsCorporate DevelopmentHelp translate strategic priorities into M&A targets in collaboration with external partiesLearn and support internal processes and analytics related to transactionsCreate business cases and presentationsStrategic InitiativesEvaluate opportunities and strategies for growth and value creationWork across practices to implement and track cross-fucntional projectsCoordinate activities among internal and external senior management teams

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of corporate strategy, private equity, financial advisory, or other consulting and financial services experienceExperience in a similar corporate development and operations rolesRigorous analytical skills – including building financial models, valuation analysis, performing competitive research and benchmarking, market segmentation and sizingAbility to interpret complex data and provide actionable insightsExcellent research skills and ability to synthesize informationStrong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey strategic findingsRobus project management skills – track record of coordinating and successfully delivering several concurrent high-quality, cross-functional projects with explicit timelinesUnderstanding of financial statements and key financial metricsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and WordKnowledge of industry dynamics and competitive landscape

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

Must be comfortable to work in a semi-remote environmentMust be able to sit for long period of timeMust be flexible to work outside of the 8:30am – 5:30pm business hours if neededMust be flexible to travel as needed (approximately 25% of time)
