Capital Group’s Strategy & Innovation team has a mandate to think boldly, act nimbly, and test new ideas. The team partners closely with our Management Committee and leadership teams to identify and tackle the most pressing and strategic questions facing the firm. Representative projects include:

Incubating Capital Group’s first ESG products and outlining their go-to-market strategy

Building Capital Group’s sustainability and social responsibility strategy

Developing the 5-Year growth strategy for our European and Asian business

As a Strategy & Innovation Engagement Manager, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse initiatives in a collaborative team setting while building experience in corporate strategy and the asset management industry.  The work will be intellectually challenging with enormous opportunity for business impact. You will be given a high level of responsibility, own key modules on strategy projects, and be a partner to business leaders.  You will be accountable for framing strategic questions, generating independent hypotheses, defining the research design, and generating insights and implications of Strategy & Innovation projects.  You will mentor and oversee the work of other team members.  The successful candidate will influence senior business leaders on strategic business questions of high complexity and ambiguity.

Primary responsibilities:

The Strategy & Innovation Engagement Manager has responsibility for significant elements of project work. 

You will distill key strategic insights through high quality analysis and rigorous research

You will develop and present materials that frame key issues, fact-based recommendations, and trade-offs to senior leaders

You will lead and facilitate project definition and planning

You will drive the execution and implementation of key insights and recommendations

You will collaborate with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams globally

You have a Bachelor’s degree, and ideally an MBA

You have at least 3+ years of experience post-MBA in strategy or finance (e.g., experience at a management consulting firm, investment bank, or corporate strategy group)

You have strong analytical skills, research capabilities, and attention to detail

You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the proven ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific, high-profile audiences and senior leaders

You have strong and demonstrated teaming skills, especially in cross-functional teams, and the ability to effectively plan and manage the work of others, as necessary

You have advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint capabilities

You have interest in business strategy and asset management

Southern California Base Salary Range: $178,847-$304,040

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
