Streaming Meteorologist

 

 

This position will handle daily live weather reports on our stream and go into the field during severe weather as part of our storm-chasing team. Other duties include producing weather content, working with a team of meteorologists, and implementing station strategy. The candidate will also write and prepare forecasts, produce graphics to tell the weather story across multiple platforms, and create a strong social media presence. The candidate will also be required to periodically write and report weather-related content for newscasts.


SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE:
-  On-air weather casting experience within a medium-large TV station

-  A degree in meteorology or related science

-  Strong writing skills for broadcast and digital platforms

-  Ideal candidate needs to demonstrate a strong proficiency in social media

-  Ability to build forecasts that reinforce the First Alert Brand for CBS News Texas

-  Ability to use augmented reality in weather segments is a bonus

-  Ability to provide continuous live severe weather coverage

-  Write daily weather blog and post weather content on social media platforms.

-  An understanding of streaming strategy is a plus


QUALIFICATIONS:
-  B.S. Degree in Meteorology or Earth Sciences.

-  Proficient in weather graphics production.

-  Ability to live field report and write packages.

-  Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.

-  At least 5 years of experience on-air in weather casting and weather producing is preferred.

-  WSI weather system knowledge and the ability to employ all functions on multiple platforms preferred.

Bilingual preferred.
