Context/Environment:

 

Within the global Component Engineering department, the “Component Structural Analysis” team brings together multicultural engineers in Spain and Belgium. The main tasks of the group are a wide range of advanced technical evaluations and analyses carried out on major nuclear safety class components and piping. The group also provides many services within the framework of the discipline of structural mechanics, such as design activities, factory/workshop follow up and support to nuclear power plant modifications or refueling outage. Areas of expertise include structural analyses, fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments. The main examples of project involvement are long-term operation support, seismic qualification, major component replacement, and plant modifications.

 

Work Location: Madrid - Spain

Your work location will be at the Madrid office (San Sebastian de Los Reyes). You may be required to travel to provide engineering support directly to our teams performing activities in the nuclear power plants.

 

 

Job description:

Member of the Component Structural Analysis group performing engineering evaluations and analyses of technical products and services within the structural mechanic’s field. Responsible for hand calculations as well as finite element analysis calculations in ANSYS to verify the qualification of nuclear power plant components to the appropriate standards. Thorough documentation of analyses in English. Propose integrated solutions to technical challenges that may arise during projects. Participate in international project teams and communicate with relevant parties.

Various evolutions are possible at the end of this position, depending on the experience acquired and the performance obtained, and may lead to progress towards the path of technical expertise, project management or management.

 

Technical/Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

• MS degree in mechanical engineering This position is for an early career engineer (0 to 4 years of experience). Interested in mechanical component stress analysis, finite element analysis software for structural analysis. Interested in the nuclear industry You are fluent in English and have proven report writing skills. French is a plus but not mandatory for the position. Previous work experience with ANSYS APDL and/or workbench is plus Homeworking up to 50% of the time will be possible after 6 months (more presence in the office will be required for the first 6 months and evaluated after this period)
