BGS is seeking a Structural and Payload Design Engineer for the Legacy Tankers Air Vehicle Design Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The team is responsible for developing and performing design engineering for sustainment, modification and improvements of military and commercial derivative aircraft. 

As a Structural and Payload Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and release of model-based definition detail parts for an existing aircraft subassembly.

The ideal/successful candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience creating model-based definition detail part models based on existing legacy engineering.  The candidate will have experience correcting drafting end engineering errors; understanding, applying, and notating geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing; coaching and growing early career engineers; and managing multiple workloads within cost and schedule constraints.  

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Mid-Level and Senior Structural and Payload Design Engineers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform structural design technical lead tasks for Structures Capability TeamResponsible for developing detail and modification design concepts/final design and meeting contractual/productibility requirements for end item deliverables; This includes structural modifications, mechanical components and primary and secondary structural detail/installation design for Development and Production purposes using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools (CATIAv5 and ENOVIA)Responsible for the integration of detail design of parts/hardware installation and support to planning/manufacturing efforts and associated toolsAnalyzes and resolves design problems, able to develop and assist others with resolving design discrepancies and analyze the applicability of new and emerging technologies and advanced techniquesSupport internal/external design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR) with US and Foreign Air Force customersProvide design expertise and technical knowledge to resolve customer inquiries for post-production fleet sustainmentResponsible for Material Review Board (MRB) actions, providing engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests)Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commoditiesDevelops complex statements of work, metrics, schedules and budgetsPerforms technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selectionSupports new business and proposal activitiesWorks under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): lowest level

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science5 years’ experience in Model Based Definition (MBD)5 years’ experience using CATIA v5 and ENOVIAExperience working with configuration management tools such as CMPro or TeamcenterExperience maintaining and supporting process updates and engineering changesExperience mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience10 years’ experience using CATIA v5 and ENOVIAExperience leading a team of engineers with responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical quality of their output

Typical Education / Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $84,150 - $113,850

Summary Pay Range for Senior (Level 4): $105,400 - $142,600
