Maxar Space is seeking a Structural Assembly Technician to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to fabricate, assemble, and test spacecraft structures, panels, and central cylinders. To be successful, you will need to interpret drawings, work instructions and specifications for the fabrication and assembly of complex structural assemblies. Use working knowledge of assembly techniques and MAXAR procedures to perform critical structural bonding operations. Drill tight tolerance holes in aluminum, titanium, and composite parts.

What you'll do day-to-day:

Prepare and assemble structural component parts into complex assembliesFollow work instructions and document progress on each assemblyWork primarily in small teams to accomplish daily production goalsPrepare test articles for qualification or workmanship testsKeep workspaces neat and organizedKeep training and certifications up to date

Minimum requirements for this position:

Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent residentHigh school education is required. A&P Certification may be counted as an additional year of experience.2 years of mechanical experienceProficient using precision mechanical tools, assembly fixtures, and measuring equipment.Microsoft office applications and internal database systems.Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and support occasional shift changes to support programs goals.

These skills would be amazing:

Spacecraft integration or assembly related experience.FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification.Knowledge of static testing and instrumentation installation.Experience leading small teams of technicians building complex structures or assemblies.Safely operate a forklift, man-lift, and cranes.

Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

● The base pay for this position within California is: $23.72 - $39.53 hourly.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
