Structural Bridge Engineer
As a Structural (Bridge) EIT based in Austin, Texas, you’ll assist Engineers by performing the routine aspects of structural engineering assignments, subsequently providing familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures. You’ll will work on a variety of projects pertaining to transportation projects. Working alongside more experienced engineers, you’ll assist by performing the routine aspects of civil/structural engineering assignments, subsequently providing familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company. Additionally, you’ll: • Perform structural design calculations for prestressed concrete and steel girder bridges, as well as other transportation structures including retaining walls and drainage structures; includes development of calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports • Perform finite element analysis • Develop automation-based solutions to repetitive problems using computer programming skills • Perform quality reviews • Research design options and document findings • Prepare budgets and schedules for bridge design tasks • Assist with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project Managers • May attend kick-off and design review meetings, and interact with clients as his or her level of experience progresses • Network and work effectively with bridge and transportation engineers throughout Jacobs as well as local community • BSCE with structural emphasis • Experience in utilizing computer programming to solve engineering problems • Up to 5 years of bridge design experience with a background in steel girder bridges, prestressed concrete bridges, retaining structures and/or drainage structures preferred • Strong knowledge of LRFD design code. Proficiency in PGSuper, Leap Bridge Suite, or similar analysis and design software. • Ability to assemble plan set meeting client expectations • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
