Structural Designer, Rail & Transit
What You Will Do:

Throughout the firm’s history, Gannett Fleming has worked with the majority of transit agencies and freight rail companies in the U.S. to plan, design, and build a variety of systems that help move people and goods. 

 

Gannett Fleming is searching for a Structural Designer to join our expanding Transit & Rail, Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) practice Valley Forge or Philadelphia PA. As a Structural Designer, you will be involved in the design and rehabilitation of railroad structures, overhead contact systems and other related structures with public agencies and private clients. 

 

Our team is engaged on some very exiting projects to include Northeast Corridor Gateway Program -Sawtooth and Portal Bridge Replacement Projects; Caltrain Owner’s Representative – Electrification Support Services, Amtrak New Jersey High-Speed Rail Improvement Program (NJ HSRIP) - Overhead Contact System and Signal Power Mainline Improvements, The LA Metro Regional Connector Project, and multiple General Engineering Contracts (GEC) including SANDAG, SEPTA, Amtrak, and many other Agencies across the country. 

 

As Structural Designer at Gannett Fleming, you will be challenged to deliver value through innovative solutions and quality designs, utilizing building information modeling for collaboration through design and construction. You will also will also have an opportunity to contribute to our traditional design services for buildings, transit stations and facilities, industrial facilities, tunnels, water/wastewater facilities, and dam structures.

 

Responsibilities:

Assist with the structural analysis and design of Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) structures and transportation related facilities using structural steel, concrete and masonry construction materials.Familiarity with, SAP2000, STAAD, Mathcad, and other structural engineering analysis and design related software. Perform structural design calculations for steel, aluminum and concrete structuresCoordinate structural design with project requirements.Design of concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns and beams.Develop structural details.Possess a basic understanding of codes - IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, and ACIAssist with other duties assigned by Lead Engineers and/or Project ManagersPerform field inspection of facilities and transit related structures as neededEducation | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications 

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred) is required.Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural curriculum is preferred but not required.Must have EIT Certification0-2 years of professional experience preferably within an engineering consulting firm; relevant summer internships may count towards experienceProficiency with AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or Autodesk Revit is highly preferred.Must be capable of field inspection activity such as climbing ladders and using man lifts.Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
