The Dartmouth office has a vibrant and dynamic environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth. We are a multidiscipline team working across Atlantic Canada in multiple sectors for a variety of clients. Our projects vary in size ranging from small commercial developments to light industrial, government, community, and private sector facilities.
**Your Opportunity**
Your role is to work with guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
+ Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar documents.
+ Performs structural modeling using knowledge of relevant software programs.
+ Works with architectural, interior design, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
+ Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
+ Performs basic calculations to analyze and design individual building components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
+ Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
+ Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
+ Excellent understanding and experience using structural finite element engineering design software such as ETABS, SAFI, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, and STAAD. Revit and Bluebeam experience/knowledge is highly desirable.
+ Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
+ Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
+ Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
+ Requires proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and demonstrate flexible approach to work assignments
+ Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology and to integrate new technologies into daily work processes
**Education and Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering & EIT designation preferred.
+ Candidates that recently obtained P.Eng. designation will be considered.
+ Previous co-op/Internship experience preferred.
