As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: Join CDM Smith's Transportation team as a Structural Engineer-Bridges and make a significant impact! Our team comprises technical specialists with extensive knowledge in various design areas, including roads, bridges, structures, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, public transit, and more! As a member of this team within our Transportation Services Group, you will; •Serve as the engineer of record on bridge projects with TxDOT and other local clients. •Prepare contract plans, specifications, and special provisions required for transportation projects. •Prepare design calculations for transportation structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls) to meet project requirements. •Coordinates designs with other engineering disciplines. •Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations, and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness, performing on-site inspections and reviews, and conducting or overseeing remedial design work. •Undertake bridge design from preliminary inspection, assessment, and bridge development reports to detailed design. •Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and signs off on completed designs. •Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work. •Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs). • Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations, and best practices. •Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. •Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs. •Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. **Job Title:** Structural Engineer 5-Bridges **Group:** TSO **Certification/License Requirements:** Professional Engineer **Employment Type:** Regular **Minimum Qualifications:** •Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. •Professional engineering (PE) license. •7 years of related experience. •Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. •Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. **Preferred Qualifications:** •Bachelor's degree or greater in Structural or Civil Engineering (Masters or PhD a Plus). •Minimum of 7+ years of structural/bridge engineering design experience. •Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas. •Experience preparing contract documents in accordance with TxDOT policies and procedures. •Ability to travel on an as-needed basis to project sites and client meetings. •Strong knowledge of AASHTO Bridge LRFD Specifications. •Experience using a variety of bridge analysis software. •Experience managing project scope, and preparing schedules and budgets. •Experience with complex or other bridge types (railroad, pedestrian, etc.). •Qualified NBIS Inspection Team Leader and Fracture Critical Inspection Training. \#LI-MS1 \#LI-HYBRID **EEO Statement:** We attract the best people in the industry, supporting their efforts to learn and grow.
