Structural Engineer
Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for receiving design input from engineering personnel, reviewing customer specifications and standards, and obtaining written approval for any deviations. You will complete structural layout drawings for systems, coordinate with layout engineering personnel, and assure the accuracy and completeness of all work. This role involves planning, scheduling, and releasing components for fabrication, traveling to job sites, and working closely with other engineers and field personnel.

ResponsibilitiesReceive design input from engineering personnel.Review customer specifications and standards for incorporation into design.Obtain written approval for any deviations taken from specifications and document the deviation in the Project Engineer’s job file.Seek design input/validation from a Professional Engineer when appropriate.Complete structural layout drawings for systems and coordinate layouts with systems layout engineering personnel and project engineer.Assure work is accurate and complete, maintaining carrier clearance lines in all locations.Ensure customer and internal CAD standards are followed and appropriate dimensions are applied.Produce clear and precise drawings that are easy to read and efficiently utilize paper.Plan, schedule, and release components for fabrication, meeting installation schedules and avoiding excess purchases.Utilize obsolete inventory when possible and limit over-buying.Essential SkillsProficiency in RISA 3D, Tekla, and structural analysis software.Experience providing design and engineering decision-making for structural steel supporting structures, conveyor systems, service platforms, and more.Ability to read and understand requirements from specifications, drawings, instructions, and other design input information.Practical understanding of conveyor system layout processes and common methods of supporting.Understanding of architectural and building construction and erection practices.Good interpersonal communication skills for working with engineering personnel, shop, and field staff.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelors Degree in engineering or a related field.Prior experience as a structural drafter is desirable.P.E. License is highly preferred but not required.Work Environment

Minimum of 5% travel required but has the ability to travel more if desired.
