Structural Engineer
Job Title: Structural EngineerJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will identify new product development opportunities, determine design objectives, and ensure designs meet company objectives. You will use SolidWorks modeling software to develop solid models and detailed drawings, perform finite element analysis, and work with research & development labs for prototype fabrication. Additionally, you will prepare and review technical documents, implement rigorous product design reviews, investigate new engineering technologies, and prepare technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates. Travel may be required as deemed necessary by your supervisor. Responsibilities + Identify new product development opportunities. + Determine design objectives and ensure designs meet company objectives. + Determine appropriate design loads for structures using applicable building codes and design standards. + Utilize SolidWorks modeling software to develop solid models and detailed drawings. + Use SolidWorks Simulation software to perform finite element analysis (FEA) on various parts and assemblies. + Work with research & development labs and outside shops for prototype fabrication. + Prepare and review technical documents, including product installation manuals. + Implement rigorous product design reviews, including peer reviews, design for manufacture reviews (DFM), and design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA). + Investigate and evaluate new engineering technologies and materials to remain innovative and competitive. + Prepare technical specifications, reports, cost estimates, and project timelines for products and components. + Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility and cost. + Travel as necessary for the job and as directed by the supervisor. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. + 5+ years of relevant work experience. + Professional Engineer (PE) license. + Experience in structural design and engineering. + Proficiency in SolidWorks and FEA analysis. + Strong communication skills. + Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. + Ability to multi-task and manage projects effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Project management experience preferred. + Results-oriented with the ability to drive outcomes. + Proactive team approach to issue resolution. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Work Environment You will spend the first two weeks learning the ERP system and becoming familiar with the shop. This role is primarily based in an office within a manufacturing environment.
