Structural Engineer

The Structural Engineer will work closely with the engineering, project management, and design drafting teams to support cost estimates, code analysis, engineering design, drawing reviews, and fabrication. This role is responsible for the structural design of gas turbine exhaust components, equipment support structures, metal building components, barriers, and other related structures, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and customer requirements.
Reports directly to the Senior Manager, Engineering.
Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and review structural design requirements for project sites based on local codes, engineering specifications, project manuals, and customer requirements.Prepare RFQs for pre-engineered metal building packages.Collaborate with engineers and estimators to develop preliminary structural designs and cost estimates for metal buildings, turbine exhaust stacks, support structures, and barriers at the proposal stage.Review submittals for pre-engineered metal buildings.Perform design calculations for metal buildings, turbine exhaust stacks, support structures, barriers, and foundations. Prepare formal calculation reports.Review and stamp (or coordinate stamping of) design drawings as required.Provide technical supervision and guidance to junior engineers and designers.

QualificationsDegree in Civil Engineering, with training in steel structure design.Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. in Canada or PE in the U.S.); multiple jurisdiction registration is an asset.8-10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings is required.Knowledge of thermal cycling fatigue analysis and fatigue-resistant design practices is an asset.Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an asset.Proficiency in structural engineering software:STAADRISA-3DMecaStackExperience with Autodesk Inventor, Revit & AutoCAD is an asset.
