Structural Engineer (Concrete & Steel Design)

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting to fill several Structural Engineer (Concrete & Steel Design) positions for 12-month contract assignments for our client in Richland, Washington.
These are onsite positions - NO REMOTE WORK available
.Per Diem is available for contractors traveling from outside of the area
Due to requirements of federal government contracts, candidates must be U.S. citizens - must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship
Must be able to complete pre-employment drug screen and background checks
Weekly pay on a W2 basis (time and one-half for overtime)
Targeted pay rate: $75.00 to $85.00/hour
Major Responsibilities:
· Originate and check complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, material requisitions
· Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction
· Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues
· Manage specifically assigned project activities
· Assist in constructability reviews
· Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports
· Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers and designers
· Schedule and coordinate off-project review requirements for engineering deliverables
· Lead and/or participate in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
· Proven ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures
· Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, and ASCE 7
· Demonstrated proficiency in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or SAP 2000
· Proven experience with CADD applications such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
· Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
· Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables (such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions) and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures
· Proven ability to understand work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects
· Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner - verbally and in writing
· Demonstrated ability to professionally resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and clients
· Excellent listening, planning, and organizational skills
· Proficiency in the use of Mathcad or similar software
· Thorough knowledge of the provisions of ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 4-98, ASCE 7, and IBC codes
· Familiarity with ME-035, Base Plate II
· Experience in the structural design of Nuclear and/or DOE facilities
· Experience with managing documentation
· Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence
· Experience in resolving field problems associated with proposed changes from Construction and working through Non-Conformances
· Professional Engineering License (PE)
Education and Experience Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in structural/civil engineering from an accredited university or college AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience in complex concrete and/or steel design
