This is a full-time, exempt position.
Position Summary:
This is an entry level for professional work. Performs assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Limited exercise of judgement is required on details of work and in making preliminary sections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Work is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Reports to the Structural Departmental Manager.
Knowledge:
Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of Structural Engineering.
Directions Received:
Works under close supervision: receives specific and detailed instructions for required tasks and results expected.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs.
Some of the types of projects the engineer may work on are:Design and analysis of heavy, multi-story Industrial Buildings (Structural Steel)Equipment and building foundation analysis and designPipe bridge designEquipment support designDevelopment of structural connection details (varies from typical to complex details)New buildings and retrofit of buildings and or structuresStructural inspections and repairs (concrete & steel)Pile and drilled shaft designStorage tank designCorrosion investigationResponsibilities for the Directions of OthersUsually assumes no responsibility for direction of othersJob Requirements:BS Degree (minimum), with a major in any of the following:Structural EngineeringCivil Engineering with Structural EmphasisAgriculture & Architecture with Structural Emphasis
