Hatch seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Structural team in Tampa, FL. This position can also be based in Pittsburgh, PA. The Structural Engineer participates in a wide range of projects covering civil foundations and structural steel design. Activities include site investigation and civil/structural steel finite element modeling for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.

 

Position reports to the Regional Manager - Structural.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Performs specific engineering studies, engineering calculations, and other design analyses using industry software Evaluates the work of technical staff and provides feedback based on client needs and approve the discipline and layout design criteria documents Establishes budgets, cost estimates and project schedules related to structural engineering scope Leads in the development of technical documentation, specification, drawings, requisitions, proposals, and presentation to clients Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural engineering from an accredited university Professional Engineer, P.E. License is required Minimum 10-15 years of experience Broad knowledge of applying structural engineering practices to plant constructability, construction methods and materials Proficient with building and design codes (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC etc) and the use of Staad Pro or similar structural analysis software Experience with 2D and 3D CADD applications, such as MicroStation or AutoCAD Must demonstrate strong problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues Ability to lead and work with engineering staff at all levels Must have multidisciplinary engineering knowledge Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey project technical information to project managers, clients and peers Must demonstrate organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others ensuring the quality of deliverables Strong computer knowledge is required including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Excellent safety awareness Willingness to be a part of a global engineering company and to collaborate with teams in other offices around the world
