HDR is looking for a summer 2025 Structural Intern candidate to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Walnut Creek, CA or Folsom, CA. The structural design projects this individual will support include a variety of market sectors: Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal.

As a structural intern at HDR, you will work with a team of licensed structural engineers, engineers in training, and BIM designers on different project types and with diverse professionals. Our goal will be to engage you in all facets of our work so that you will gain a better understanding of how your coursework is applied in real-world settings and inspire you to engage in a career in structural engineering upon graduation.

In the role of Structural Intern, we'll count on you to:Learn how to read and interpret engineering Drawings and Specifications (Contract Documents)Participate in engineering design and analysis to the extent that your knowledge and completed coursework will enablePerform small tasks in AutoCAD and/or RevitUsing finite element analysis software (i.e. RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000), hand calculations, and current codes and standards to perform your work under the responsibility of a Professional EngineerVisit projects under construction to learn how structures are built and inspectedReview fabrication (shop) drawings from contractors for conformance to the structural engineering design drawings and specificationsPerform other duties as requiredOffer real-world experience on exciting projectsPreferred QualificationsMajor in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering and pursuing emphasis in Structural EngineeringPrefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0 GPADemonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industryLocal candidates preferredRequired Qualifications
 Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program Attention to detailPossess strong problem-solving and communication skills Basic Microsoft Office skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position is $22.00 to $26.00 an hour and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
