A clear leader in specialty underground construction, Schnabel is looking for a structural welder with heavy civil construction experience. We are a busy nationwide contractor that has roots dating back to 1959. We are in a state of hyper growth and adding another skilled welder that doesn't disrupt our tight knit family and safety first culture is imperative to our success.

Our typical scope of work includes installation of piles, lagging, walers, braces, and more for support of excavation projects. You should have experience with geostructural, heavy civil, bridges, or marine projects to be considered. Preference to those with direct industry experience on deep foundation projects.

As a structural welder you will be an integral part of our team on site and responsible for welding steel beams, steel plates, and other miscellaneous metals while performing basic piledriving duties.

As a construction welder…

Must be proficient in the use of hand and power toolsUnloads and assembles pile driving hammer and leads.Unloads various types of piling- concrete, pipe, H-piling, timber, and steel sheet pilingFuels, lubricants, and maintains the pile driving hammerUses oxygen/acetylene welding torch to cut steel plates, pipes, beams, etc.Prepares the piling to be driven and assists in positioning and driving pilingResponsible for on-site structural welding that will be visually & X-ray inspected

 

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret plans and schematicsMinimum of 2 years of documented experience in a structural welding roleCertified structural welder with a D1.1. Or the ability to pass required weld testsAbility to lift and carry 80 pounds of materials when necessaryLocal and regional travel as required for projects High school diploma or equivalent

 

Working Conditions/Environment

Work in levels of noise, dust, moisture, and temperatures normally found on construction sitesWork in confined space as neededWork is mostly outdoors and subject to the elementsAbility to climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, squat and tolerate heights without fear due to nature of our work
