Student Account Specialist

This is a contract-to-hire role, offering a great opportunity to join a collaborative team with the potential to transition into a permanent position. Key Responsibilities: As a Student Accounts Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining student financial accounts. Your responsibilities will include: + Processing payments and refunds to ensure timely and accurate transactions. + Reconciling daily deposits to maintain financial accuracy and compliance. + Managing and resolving past due accounts with professionalism and care. + Collaborating with financial aid teams to facilitate student funding. + Posting student payments accurately in the system. + Answering inquiries regarding student payments and accounts with clarity and excellent customer service. + Developing and maintaining reports on outstanding debts to track and manage balances. + Processing and monitoring student sponsorships, grants, and scholarships to support educational funding. + Handling financial aid transmittals and ensuring proper recordkeeping. + Tracking and managing stale refund checks, ensuring accurate processing and compliance. Requirements What You Need to Succeed: + Accounting Skills: Strong proficiency in balancing deposits, working with past-due accounts, and financial reconciliation. + Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to engage with students, staff, and other stakeholders. + Organization and Detail Orientation: Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy. + Collaborative Mindset: Comfortable working with cross-functional teams, including the financial aid office and other departments. + Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Excel, student account systems) is a plus. + Prior experience in student accounts, accounting, or higher education is desirable but not required.
