Position Availability: Position Title: Student Assistant, Center for English Language Studies Requisition Number: 0406073617 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: Provost/Provost's Office Responsibilities: The Center for English Language Studies seeks a reliable and motivated graduate student to handle a variety of tasks involved in the day-to-day operations of a busy, fast-paced office. Candidates who can commit to working for at least 18 months or more are strongly preferred. Excellent writing skills are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES 10 hours per week in the summer semester 15 to 20 hours per week during the fall-spring semesters and more during vacation periods, as available Answering email inquiries, providing excellent customer service to students, staff & faculty Working closely with other university offices to troubleshoot student issues Maintaining and updating digital files and databases Creating digital flyers and bi-weekly newsletter Drafting and scheduling regular communications to students in ESL+Certificate and Certificate in TESOL programs Updating program websites and Google Sites Creating content for CELS social media accounts Assisting with department events, including set up and clean up when on site Other duties as assigned


WORK MODEEmployees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus, but may also work a shift of the time remotely. During breaks there is more flexibility to work remotely.
HOURLY RATE$17-$19 per hour Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience in an administrative position Strong eye for detail; able to accurately manage large amounts of information, particularly in Google sheets Punctual and reliable Professional with excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills Strong writing skills Patience with students who may not be proficient in English Able to handle busy inbox Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently Tech savvy with good command of Google docs, Microsoft Office applications, Adobe and social media Experience and/or interest in design and writing for marketing materials and social media Preferred Qualifications: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Graduate student at the beginning of their studies Experience in qualitative and quantitative survey design, analysis, and presentation Ability to create original visual assets using Photoshop or Illustrator; Ability to create and/or edit videos using Adobe Premiere Photography/videography and graphic design skills Experience maintaining database in excel or Googlesheets Proficiency in a language other than English (Spanish, Mandarin, Korean preferred) Job Family: Office of the Provost Posting Date: 04/16/2025 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Yes Supplemental Questions
