Posting Details Position Information Job Title Student Assistant - Graphic Design General Description This is a student position responsible for assisting in the creative work in support of departmental projects, programs, and/or activities. Works under close supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Job Duties 1. Assists with designing graphic content for departmental use in print and/or electronic media.2. Scans, adjusts, corrects and/or artistically manipulates images and photography.3. Follows departmental and university guidelines to uphold established graphic identity and to ensure the quality, consistency, and conformity of graphic content.
4. Works collaboratively within a team.
5. Assists staff with routine clerical duties and responsibilities as assigned.6. Assists with special projects as assigned.
7. May train other student workers.8. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Knowledge of general office and clerical procedures and concepts.
2. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with close attention to detail.
3. Ability to operate personal computer with a general understanding of graphic design application software.
4. Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.6. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.7. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
8. Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently.
9. Ability to think conceptually and creatively. Required Qualifications The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of basic marketing and advertising concepts. Knowledge of color theory and typography. Skill in the use of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other computer graphics software, page layout software, and web design tools. Ability to maintain currency of knowledge and skills, to include adapting to changes in technology and software related to graphic design. Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
