The New School’s Marketing and Communication (M&C) seeks a multifaceted student to assist the Digital Content department. At Digital Content, we are responsible for coordinating, managing, and producing video and photography assets to promote the entire university. The student assistant will work under the supervision of the Senior Digital Content Producer in the primary functions of organization, editing, and distribution of digital assets (video, photo, and audio), and assist in the management of different media properties. The Digital Content Student Assistant Producer will have the opportunity to work on creative projects in photo and video while acquiring in-demand real-world skills of digital asset management and production.
In addition to production, the Student Assistant Producer will aid the Marketing and Communication department in managing our cloud based DAL (Digital Asset Library, dal.newschool.edu) hosted by the company Bynder. This position will work closely with the Digital Assets and Platforms Manager. Training will be provided so the student is well-versed and prepared to use our asset management system, procedures, and best practices.
The Digital Content Student Assistant Producer will work out a schedule with the Senior Digital Content Producer and the Digital Assets and Platforms Manager that is conducive to all, but one that could be flexible for fewer or more hours depending on academic calendar and need. Applicants should anticipate working up to 7.5 hours per week during the academic year and upwards of 10 hours in summer. Please note that at the start of this position, there will be slightly fewer hours available as there will be an overlap with the current Student Assistant Producer. Applicants need to maintain a reasonable but dedicated schedule and preferably have the ability to commit to at least 1 year in the position.

Responsibilities: Assist on all photo and video shoots for M&C Collaborate with all M&C departments and act as a creative partner Assist the in-house team and outside vendors in producing video and photo content. Assist with the digital processing of photography and video release forms. Assist with the intake and cataloging of assets to the Digital Asset Library Curate and manage collections of images for use by designers, editorial staff, and others Maintain and assign metadata for assets, incorporating industry standards to ensure accurate usage rights that meet The New School’s unique requirements Other tasks as assigned.
Work Mode: Hybrid/Split – Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.
Salary Range: Payment is $18.00/hour, commensurate with the applicant’s experience and skill level.
