Position Information Position Information Position Availability: Position Title: Student Assistant Specialist Graphic Designer Requisition Number: 0406073609 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: CA/M&C Responsibilities: The Marketing and Communications department at The New School is seeking a talented student assistant specialist designer with a rigorous and thoughtful design process. This position reports to the Associate Design Director.

Responsibilities
Effectively craft the bold visual presence of the University across all channels. Translate strategic positioning and core values through memorable communication experiences. Ensure design continuity across all media. Generate creative that helps university partners define and meet their communications objectives for projects of various sizes and scopes, including advertising, view books, search pieces and brochures, signage, merchandise, invitations, websites, and other digital marketing initiatives. Successfully partner with other members of the in-house team including writers, other designers, project managers, production artists, strategists, online media producers, and the design director to provide creative vision and conceptual support for marketing content on assigned projects. Develop and implement integrated holistic creative of a high visual and conceptual quality, appropriate to content and intended audience, and contextualized within the framework of the institution’s overall visual identity. Adhere to agreed-upon project management plans, meeting all of the needs outlined in creative briefs, including delivery schedules and budgetary considerations. Communicate with the project team in all stages of design. Create web and print-worthy files that reflect effective and efficient production values. Stay current with print and interactive design, production, and technology skills. Make presentations to partners, communicating creative vision and process and speaking with clarity and conviction. Bring brand positioning as well as design identity to life through strong communication design. Provide support to senior design staff and related duties as requested.
Work Mode
Hybrid – Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.
Rate
$21.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
Print and interactive experience is essential. Knowledge of and experience with interactive and print design, with an emphasis on typography. Excellent organizational and presentation skills, combined with an impeccable attention to detail. Ability to work quickly, and effectively with the capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to conduct photo research and edit photos. Demonstrated ability to express established brand identity that meets evolving communication goals. Demonstrated proficiency in the complete Adobe Creative Cloud software suite is essential.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications
