We are seeking casual Student Behavioral Associates to support our inpatient units. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, this role will assist with the provision of medical and psychiatric patient care. The incumbent receives practical experience relevant to their formal education track and career goals. These positions are located at the Oakland location and the shifts are rotating, day/evening/night, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

The Student Behavioral Associate has a set pay rate of $17.38.

Responsibilities:

Assists the nurse and other direct care staff in the provision of physical care and clinical intervention as assessed by client needs. Attend a minimum of 1 unit based of Institute wide in-service yearly. Documents in the medical record according to established policies. Encourages patients to perform or assists them in the performance of activities of daily living. Learns and utilizes up-to-date technology and practices in the delivery of patient care. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Maintains on-going communication with the treatment team and charge nurse regarding observations of patients’ medical and behavioral symptoms and the care provided. Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and other activities. Takes initiative to ensure that unit environment is maintained.
