Student Disability Services Director (HEO) **POSITION DETAILS** Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at The City College of New York, the Director of the AccessAbility Center / Student Disability Services (AAC/SDS) will develop and oversee CCNY's programs and resources that support students with disabilities, and will work with faculty and staff to sustain an integrated model of access as resources in adaptive technology evolve. The Director will work with partners on campus and in administrative offices across CUNY to meet CCNY's strategic goals in maintaining vital support for students with disabilities, and will work with CCNY leadership to develop goals and track progress. The goals of this position are to (1) foster the success of students who require accommodations to create a welcoming environment of inclusive access; (2) work with faculty to arrive at solutions that ensure compliance with ADA and Section 504 regulations; and (3) coordinate Assistive Technology resources, educating students and faculty in their use across disciplines. Major responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: + Bridge the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs offices, advocating for students' needs in administrative processes, participating in CARES team meetings as needed, and coordinating services with CUNY LEADS to integrate experiential learning and employment opportunities for students with accommodations. + Oversee staff in the AAC/SDS office, coordinating training and professional development opportunities for Accommodations Specialists, Exam Coordinators, Proctors, and Administrative Staff. + Oversee operations in the AAC/SDS office: manage budget processes for the administration of part-time staff, stipends for note-takers, and scholarship awards; coordinate with the Senior Technology Associate to ensure performance of hardware, software and their effective deployment; and procure services as needed, such as ASL and mobility devices for campus-wide events. + Develop rapport with the academic departments, schools, and divisions who have variable pedagogical and adaptive technology needs, to empower faculty in their provision of equitable access to course material and testing. + Participate in orientation sessions for new students and faculty regarding disability services. + Work with CCNY's Teaching and Learning Center in providing information sessions for faculty about the types of accommodations that they may encounter. + Lead trainings and provide updates in the current use of adaptive technology and guidance on the practical ways in which accommodations can be integrated into syllabi. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's degree and eight years related experience required. **Preferred Qualifications:** Master's Degree in a related field. Exceptional oral and written communication, organizational, and analytical skills. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Provides administrative oversight, visionary leadership and broad direction for all aspects of a unit supporting students with special needs. - Develops a comprehensive program serving students with disabilities to ensure their retention and academic success - Serves as the primary resource related to campus student disability issues and works collaboratively to identify, facilitate, and implement a vast array of student support services - Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies - Manages program and administrative support staff, including professionals such as Sign Language Interpreters and Disability Accommodations specialists - Prepares long- and short- range plans and budgets, and monitors and reports performance related to goals - Develops and implements program assessment plan to evaluate program delivery of services, student learning outcomes, and student satisfaction - Generates campus-wide programming for students with disabilities and to increase sensitivity throughout the college community - May manage other student affairs programs serving a variety of student communities - Performs related duties as assigned.
