Interviews will take place in Spring/Summer 25.The College of Arts & Media is seeking a dynamic and creative student who is interested in the development and management of social media. This intern provides support for the CAM Marketing Team by maintaining a strong presence on social media for all accounts and developing social media campaigns that promote engagement as well as CAM events and achievements. The CAM community includes the Departments of Art, Dance, Mass Communication, Theatre & Musical Theatre, and the School of Music. The CAM Marketing Team provides student interns with the opportunity to work in a professional setting and gain valuable real-world skills and training that will benefit their future careers. This intern will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Operations (head of the CAM marketing team) and the CAM Communications Manager. Duties and Expectations This position is representative of the entire College of Arts & Media and requires serious dedication to the internship. The social media intern is expected to do the following: Learn and use web applications for calendaring and social media management (primarily Outlook and Sprout Social). Generate copy for captions on various platforms. Create, present, and schedule campaigns for the promotion of CAM events using content generated by departments and/or the marketing team. Create, present, and schedule campaigns that encourage engagement from current/prospective students and other followers. Contact SHSU students, faculty, staff, and alumni to generate content. Check for comments/direct messages on each platform and reply accordingly every day. Have strong attention to detail, stay organized, and meet deadlines. Stay up to date with social media trends applicable to higher education. Review analytics for all platforms and provide feedback for admins. Create and facilitate tabling opportunities to help promote social media pages and events. May assist copywriting intern as needed with calendaring and writing-based projects. Other projects as assigned. Other Requirements for the Position Required Qualifications Applicants must have and maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. The successful internship candidate may be eligible for a scholarship within the College of Arts & Media. Interested applicants must have a completed Scholarships4Kats application on file to be considered for a scholarship. All interns on the CAM Marketing Team are expected to do the following: Learn and use web applications for project management and cloud storage (primarily Microsoft Teams and Outlook). Communicate openly, effectively, and frequently with team admins. Work collaboratively with other members of the CAM Marketing Team. Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, faculty, and staff. Maintain the confidentiality of CAM information. Learn and follow all college and Sam Houston State University brand standards. Assist and participate in the organization and execution of CAM-sponsored events that may include nights or weekends (Saturday@Sam, Bearkat Family Weekend, Orientations, CAM performances, etc.) Other duties as assigned.

Capable of handling a fast-paced marketing environment. Creative and extroverted personality with a passion for arts and media.
