**Job Description** **Position Title:** Student Intern - Engineering (Civil/Structural) (Summer 2025) **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Office of Chief Ops Officer/Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** Assists engineers in the Civil/Structural Engineering section as they conduct engineering activities. Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer, completes a variety of tasks in the field and in the office. This position typically works 40-50 hours per week. **Essential Functions:** + Assist with the design of earthwork, roads, and pavements, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and foundations. + Assist with the development of computer models. + Assist with the preparation of design drawings and specifications. + Assist with the review of shop drawings and submittals. + Assist with construction material tracking. + Assist with field construction observations such as rebar placement. + Perform field verification of existing and newly constructed as-built conditions and subsequent drawing updates. **Qualifications** **:** + Enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) civil engineering program with completion of sophomore year. + At least 18 years of age. + A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average, preferred. + Good verbal and written communication skills. + Good interpersonal and organization skills + Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and personal computers. + Able to work as part of a team. + A valid driver’s license. + Resume required. + The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position occasionally may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position must be respirator qualified.
