**Job Description** **Position Title:** Student Intern - Engineering (Mechanical) (Summer 2025) **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Office of Chief Ops Officer/Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** This is a temporary position that assists the Mechanical Engineering division at headquarters. The incumbent must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. **Essential Functions:** + Assist engineering staff on project assignments. + Verify as-built conditions and subsequent drawing updates. + Develop P&ID's, basic design elements, equipment sizing, etc. + Perform basic engineering calculations **Qualifications** **:** + Enrolled in a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited mechanical or chemical engineering program with at least two semesters completed. + Must be at least 18 years of age. + A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) is preferred. + Able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, and work as part of a team. + Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and personal computers. + Good interpersonal and organizational skills. + A valid driver’s license. + This position will travel approximately 10% of the time by car or cooperative/commercial plane. + Resume required. + The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position occasionally may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position may need to be respirator qualified.
