Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.
In this role, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Communications and Marketing team. The Communications Intern contributes to and supports a strategic communications program designed to enhance and protect the reputation of the brand and which supports and highlights the institutions mission and vision to be a world class patient centered integrated academic medical center. The intern assists the team across the full range of public relations media and communications activities relating to the business of the medical center including researching issues monitoring media drafting press materials and pitching media as needed. The candidate does not serve as spokesperson for the organization. Time management critical thinking skills the ability to work well in a team setting initiative and flexibility are all important in this role. This person needs to have enthusiasm and the drive to succeed as well as a passion for health care and being in an academic medical center setting. The ability to work quickly efficiently and have excellent writing computer and organizational skills are a must.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation of a strategic communications program in support of institutional strategic priorities, long-term goals and objectives relating to media relations, institutional initiatives, and special projects. Assist with writing and production of NYU Langone Healths daily Intelligence Briefing.Prepare reports and maintain documentation regarding media relations activities consistent with office policy and procedures (e.g., Cision, metrics, Inside Health).Research health issues in the news and associated reporters who cover varied health areas. Prepare messaging, pitch letters and other documents as needed. Help identify and pitch topics/experts for news stories.Update and maintain media contact lists through media specific software (Cision).Work closely with team to organize and staff media on interviews/filming on-site as necessary.Draft press releases, contingency statements, talking points, Q&As, bio materials, social media copy, web site copy, and other materials as assigned.Assist team on media metrics activities and collaborating with the analytics team as neededOther duties as assigned.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.00-20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
