Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. The Resource Team provides quality, comprehensive patient care in an assigned facility, covering for regular staff members that, for a variety of reasons, are unable to attend to their normal positions. The Resource Team provides clinical and nursing support and encompasses a broad skill set that enables members to support various areas in the hospital or clinic. As a Student Intern, you will have an opportunity to join our clinic team, outreaching to patients to schedule follow up appointments, preventative health screening, or reminders to complete lab work, radiology tests, or specialty referrals. Depending on assignment and hours, interns may also receive training to assist in clinical aspects of care such as conducting health-screening questionnaires or collecting vital signs when patients come for appointments.
