Lab Internship – St. Vincent Medical Center

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Internship will play a key role in assisting physicians by performing all aspects of testing on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to measure the substances that contribute to the diagnosis as well as the treatment of a condition for the patient. In addition, the Lab Intern will be responsible for quality control, instrument operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Essential Functions: 

Performs waived and moderate complexity laboratory diagnostic test of specimens to interpret, document, and report test results Verify analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methodsComplete in-house quality checks verifications on lab equipment and instrumentationMust possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly Organize/maintain the inventory of laboratory suppliesOther duties as assigned

Education:

High School Degree or GEDCurrently enrolled in an accredited Health Science program (MLS/MLT) leading to an associates or bachelor’s degree
