The Student Nurse Associate (SNA) program is a paid job opportunity allowing nursing students to work under the direction of the RN in providing care to patients. Gain the experience you need to launch your nursing career while working with us. This position will provide you with the opportunity to learn and network with hiring leaders in our 5-hospital non-profit healthcare system.
What you will need
Education
High School Graduate or equivalent Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program
Experience
Required: Completion of first semester nursing clinicals/nursing fundamentals
License/Registration/Certifications
Obtain your BLS when you start!
What To Expect
Gain valuable work experience as a PCA, Companion and Unit Ambassador through the Resource Pool. The minimum requirement is to work one 8 hour shift every two weeks during your school semester. However, you may work as many hours as your school schedule will allow. You tell us where you want to work and you will shadow with nurses in departments of your top areas of interest.
Core Job Responsibilities
Basic Computer Skills Assists patients with activities of daily living in a safe, timely and courteous manner. Performs personal hygiene care with respect to privacy, dignity and needs of the patient Offers back rubs, prepares for meal times and sleep hours Delivers meals/snacks and water in a timely manner Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested. Documents written and verbal communication, which is timely and effective, communicates changes in patient status, actual and potential needs of patient/families/visitors to registered nurse. Provides care relative to the age-specific needs of the patient on the unit by demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development Knowledgeable in use of and response to Code Alert/ Facility Alerts Identifies areas for improvement and seeks ways to work on self-defined weaknesses Remains committed to unit, department and division goals Attends continuing education classes for improvement offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
