The incumbent participates in all aspects of recruitment activities including, but not limited to, the representation of the University to wide and diverse audiences; conducting initial evaluations of the credentials of applicants seeking admission to the University using the standards and requirements of the University and specific programs; engaging in extensive travel locally, nationally and internationally; participates in secondary school visits; conducting applicant interviews; and managing correspondence with prospective students and other recruitment channel associates. This is a 15-month contracted position.
This position reports to the Director of Recruitment. The incumbent receives general oversight and supervision concerning methods, procedures and policies and receives day-to-day work direction from the Director of Recruitment. The incumbent is expected to work independently on assigned projects and is expected to work closely with other members of the Recruitment team, Admissions team and Marketing & Communications team to ensure the effective and efficient recruitment of prospective students and processing of applications.
Required Qualifications: 1. Participates in the development and implementation of an overall Vancouver Campus recruitment plan and comprehensive school/college relations program including travel visitations, professional programs, college fairs and other programs both domestically and internationally as may be assigned.
2. Supports FDU V contracted agents for the designated recruitment territory by responding to enquiries, providing training, and participating in agent events. Identifies new prospective agents and onboards approved new agents. Evaluates agent performance on an ongoing basis.
3. Maintains reports on recruitment activities along with recommendations for future actions. Prepares recommendations related to the design, scheduling and evaluation of school and college recruitment strategies. Provides budgets for all activities on a timely basis and adheres to an overall annual budget. Maintains the master calendar of recruitment activities.
4. Participates in on- and off-campus receptions for guidance counselors and two-year college transfer officers.
5. Develops and meets annual enrollment targets for specified territories both domestically and internationally. Develops and uses a variety of CRM strategies to reach these targets.
6. Advises Marketing & Communications team on advertising schedule, promotional campaigns, and other marketing activities.
7. Updates and revises the copy for recruitment literature, publications, directories, and other promotional pieces in consultation with Marketing & Communications team, designers and University Publications officers, etc.
8. Interviews candidates for admission to the University. Evaluates credentials of applicants and makes recommendations according to University standards and requirements of specific programs.
9. Conducts basic pre-academic counseling to prospective students, offering advice and explanations as to selection of courses to fulfill basic degree requirements in accordance with University requirements. Refers prospective students to Admissions or department specialists when in-depth counseling is needed.
10. Coordinates with Admissions Evaluators on the evaluation and articulation of transfer credits.
11. Supports prospective students throughout all stages of the application journey through until enrollment and, in coordination with the Student Services Office, prepares for the arrival of new students and participates in the Student Pre-Orientation Program.
12. Liaises with the campus academic and support services departments as required.
13. May be actively involved in extensive communication activity with prospective students, recruitment agents and other partners, outside of regular business hours.
14. Inputs and updates data on the computerized master system (Ellucian).
15. Mentors and supports junior members of the recruitment team.
16. Participates in the design and implementation of various Central Administration projects and reports.
17. Attends and represents FDU-Vancouver at professional association meetings and workshops.
18. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
2. Two years of experience in international student recruitment or a marketing-related field.
3. Three years of experience in the processes and procedures of recruiting international students for study in Canada, preferably for post-secondary programs.
4. Experience working with and managing partnerships with international recruitment agencies.
5. Knowledge of international recruitment events, exhibitions and conferences and Canadian recruitment organizations.
6. Effective oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
7. Computer proficiency for word processing, spreadsheet, and data management applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Word preferred. Familiarity with Ellucian a plus.
8. Proficiency in English. Fluency in the native language of one or more of our target markets preferred.
9. The ability to travel extensively, both locally and internationally. Valid passport required for international travel.
10. Must be willing and able to work overtime and/or at other FDU locations as required.
11. Canadian Residency or work permit required.
