The University of Southern California Leventhal School of Accounting is seeking applications for a full-time Student Services Advisor I for Leventhal’s Undergraduate Programs. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Programs, the Academic Advisor will work collaboratively with the Undergraduate Programs team in supporting students in a top-ranked Bachelor of Science in Accounting (ACCT), Accounting Minor and the Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance (ACFN), a joint degree with the Marshall School of Business.

Responsibilities and Duties
Provides academic advising for undergraduate accounting students; advises on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, Certified Public Accounting (CPA) licensing requirements, transfer credit evaluation, graduation requirements, career opportunities, and other mattersMonitors student progress, including students on probationMaintains accounting undergraduate students' records on the University’s Advisement Database, Advise USCEvaluates student problems (i.e., academic, administrative or personal) and refers student to appropriate faculty or student support personnel for additional counseling or support; coordinates with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolutionCoordinates registration activities, grading, verifies degree progress, enrollment and degree verification with the Office of Academic Records and Registrar; interfaces with faculty, administrators and students regarding grading policies, academic progress and student performanceAssists with petitions, applications, resumes and letters of recommendationAssists in the planning and coordination of student events such as orientation, networking events, the annual scholarship event and commencement; oversees student programming such as First Year Experience programs, student organizations and mentorship groupsAssist in the scholarship review process by participating in the Scholarships Committee to assess applications and support decisions for continuing studentsAssists in the preparation and/or updating of the website, student database, online scholarship application, bulletins, newsletters, handbooks, guides, fact sheets, brochures and other materialsMeets with prospective USC students including freshmen, external transfers, and internal transfers, either in individual appointments or through programs coordinated by the Leventhal School, Marshall School, or UniversityParticipates in Leventhal, Marshall, and University-wide activities and committees to become familiar with the Leventhal and Marshall Schools and to remain aware of the most up to date student-related policies and proceduresOccasionally works in the evenings, early mornings, or weekends for meetings or eventsPreferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Business, or Student Advising Master’s degree Two years of directly related experience, preferably within an educational institution Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads Genuine interest in working with undergraduate students and developing relationships Strong written and oral communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong time management and organizational skillsAnticipated Hiring Range:
The hourly range for this position is $29.68 – $33.16.
