POSITION SUMMARY
A Student Technician Apprentice to perform service repairs within a professionally supervised environment. As an apprentice the student will work closely with senior technicians to perform repairs under direct supervision. The student will be tasked with performing repairs on medium and heavy-duty trucks of any make or model. The student must have a basic knowledge of automotive mechanical systems to include fundamental principles of mechanics. Success in this program will lead to becoming a permanent part of the WE Service Organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
• Complete essential training as outlined and at the rate as prescribed by the employer/mentor.
• Complete Preventive Maintenance and systems inspections with oversight.
• Perform general repairs on basic truck mechanical systems with supervision.
• Strive to complete assigned work in a timely professional manner while following all the prescribed safety policies of the company.
• Work harmoniously with management, co-workers, and customers to ensure that the customer receives a best-in-class repair experience.
• Endeavor to perform repairs with a zero-comeback strategy.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor/mentor to assist dealership in selling service hours.
• Participate and report progress evaluation results as prescribed by the employer/educational institution.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
• Reports directly to the Service Forman or Designee
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential task to the acceptable industry standards. A preferred candidate must have demonstrated an excellent academic attendance record in addition to a good work ethic, attituded and professional appearance. The requirements listed below are also representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• At least 18 Years of age.
• Be a Full Time Student enrolled in a program-related co-op that will provide the opportunity to obtain needed competencies.
• Have completed a minimum of 50% of the required classroom hours and/or possess the skillset equivalent to a minimum of 50% of the of the entry level requirements per an instructor’s evaluation.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Must be able to effectively communicate within the internal business systems during the repair process which will allow for every opportunity to sell service hours.
• The ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents and flow-charts during the diagnosis of the truck systems.
